美Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show有多的歌曲都是出自於曲作家Shel Silverstein之手，像之前曾介的《Sylia's Mother》( 西薇雅的 )。首《The Ballad of Lucy Jordan》( 露西丹之歌 ) 也是，但是在Dr. Hook行此曲5年之後，於1979被英女歌手Marianne Faithfull唱的。
Marianne Faithfull原只是唱民的小歌手。1964，由於加了石的午餐派，被石的作人相中，接著推出了由主唱Mick Jagger和吉他手Keith Richards合的《As Tears Go By》，在英排行榜到了第9名，一成了知名的歌手。1965年5月，Marianne Faithfull嫁了和她一起加石派的John Dunbar。同年11月，Faithfull生下了一子，在1966丈夫，投向了Mick Jagger的抱，始了一段公的密，直至1970。

束了和Mick Jagge的，Marianne Faithfull不失去了子的，由於毒品成，甚至一度以敦的街道家，重的喉炎也因持的物用而造成了永久性的害 --- 沙及之前的高音唱不上去，歌唱事如螺旋般的落。
1979，Marianne Faithfull推出了她的第7《Broken English》，走的是新浪潮曲 ( 而其中也包含了像是克、和雷鬼 )，果受好，也是自她1965的第一之後，再度入榜美排行榜。中的首《The Ballad of Lucy Jordan》也成她入榜成最佳的歌曲。
歌曲述的是一位中37的家庭主，由於期於如般的生活，感曾的想完全破，由而至狂，甚至在街上裸奔喊叫，最後爬上自家的屋。於歌曲的局，有些人是跳自 ( 尊重生命，打1995 )，而Marianne Faithfull大家曲解了，她Lucy Jordan最後是被消防救下屋，被救往了精神病院。
Marianne Faithfull的版本也曾出在1991的影《Thelma & Louise》( 台：末日狂花 ) 中。【眼影】介片是公路影的代表作，也是女性主的典影之一。
翻唱此曲的歌手也多，其中也包括了Bobby Bare。Nicki Gillis 在2007的翻唱版也不，就一上了。
