首歌其不算很老，是4 Non Blondes的主唱兼吉他手Linda Perry所，出在她1993的首之中。照理，首歌名是《What's going on》，但了不和 Marvin Gaye在1971的歌曲撞名，反而取了在歌中未出的《What's Up》作歌名。

首歌先是在巴西大成功，接著在波、澳洲、瑞士、瑞典、德、、挪威和西等均冠曲，但在美本土只得到告示牌百大的第14名。4 Non Blondes成立於1989，最初四女生 ( 看都是蕾 )，之後鼓手和吉他手相人。1994因Linda Perry要，宣告解散。由於只有首知名的歌曲，而成了所的「一曲」。

2010年，路台AOL Radio此首歌列「100大歌」的第20名，嘲笑像的音律就等同是---『她的海和一起吊在枝上，除了有更多的尖叫。』我不，我得是主唱的表，或是器的音效及奏都很到位 ( 吉他的音真是好，鼓也打得很棒。)，能受到如此多人的喜，是一首成功的歌曲。美歌手Pink及阿妹惠妹均曾翻唱此曲，但感之原唱的味有些差距。
