此首《Sorrow》最早是由美The McCoys於1965唱行，唯是作翻唱歌曲《Fever》的B面 ( 曲得排行榜第7名，B面歌曲排行名次。)。次年 ( 1966 )，英人合唱合The Merseys翻唱此曲，受迎，在英排行榜得第4名。1973，英歌手David Bowie亦行此曲翻唱版，同在英排行榜得第3名之佳。

David Bowie是「—以性模糊及亮的扮作舞台造型」的代表人物之一。1972，他所造的舞台角色Ziggy Stardust ( 一位自外太空降地球的雌雄同客 )，角色的成功及其性的造型使Bowie成巨星。

Bowie自身性取向的定有多次化。他在1972年宣布自己“一直是同性”，1976年 “我是性”，1983年又改口自己是“深的性”，而媒普遍相信他是性。由站料，Bowie的花名共有41位，其中男性占5位 ( 包括石的Mike Jagger )，女性中有「玉婆」伊莎白泰勒  。Bowie共次婚，第一任妻子Angela Bowie (1970—1980，後8年分居，育有一。)；第二任妻子美裔索利的黑人超模Iman，自1992婚至2016 Bowie因肝癌去世 ( 69 )，此24年期，Bowie再有同性或性。
