此曲英歌手Elton John和他的搭Berine Taupin的又一合作。John自承作此曲有受到美The Beach Boys ( 海少年 ) 的歌曲和合音等的影。原本安排了好位有些知名度的歌手忙合音，有Cat Stevens、Danny Hutton ( Three Dog Night )、Gerry Backley ( America )、Dusty Springfield及Brian Wilson ( The Beach Boys ) 等，由於每人都心自己的表被人，混音之後的音得很「恐怖」，最後只用了Carl WilsonBruce Johnston ( The Beach Boys ) Toni Tennille ( 後夫婿合Captain & Tennille ) 的合音。

此曲於1974行，得美告示排排行榜的第2名 (UK #16)。1985，英歌手George Michael翻唱此曲，之後也成他每次巡演的必唱曲目。1991，George在敦Wembley Arena的巡演，了本尊Elton John一起演唱此曲，此版本同在英、美排行榜都得冠，也此曲再掀起一波高潮。
歌的Berine Taupin用一新的表方式取代古老的像是「我你、你我，假如我的心破碎」等等。Taupin告，他投出了一「曲球」，在此曲中置入了dark twist ( 暗的 / ？)。由此，歌曲的含意也就要由者自行解了。由「太下山」可以臆想到是一段情要束了。其中的是「I'd just allow a fragment of your life to wander free」一句。wander free有「逛」「」的意思，看起像是因限制方的「人空」而造成分手。而有歌友：反而是歌曲的主角不牲自由情；歌曲和歌然美，而可悲的是，是自私的伙在自怨自艾。
