此曲美村/民歌手兼曲作家John Prine所，收在其1986的《German Afternoons》中。而此曲另知名的，是美女歌手Nanci GriffithJohn Prine合唱的版本，收在Nanci Griffith 1993的《Other Voice, Other Rooms》，另行了曲。

John Prine自1971出道，歌唱成尚可。至1998前，四度被提名葛美，而其中在1992曾得了一座。也是在1998，John Prine「胞癌 ( Squamous-Cell carcinoma ) ← 皮癌的一。」之後，更加深成了「砂嗓 ( gravel-voice )」，但也未必是事，果他在2006又得了一座「最佳代民」的葛美。

翻唱此曲著名的有Kim Carnes及英Alabama 3等。而或是合唱、唱及合音，翻唱此曲的一般歌手也不少。
