此曲美村歌手兼曲作家ED Bruce他的太太Pasty Bruce所合，於1975年底首行，在村榜得第15名的佳。
1978，Waylon Jennings和Willie Nelson以人合翻唱此曲，不在村榜了4的冠，在榜也到第42名。且在1979人得了一座最佳村人 / 演唱的葛美。

Waylon Jennings在1959曾Buddy Holly的巡演唱，某次座位了身不The Big Bopper的J.P. Richardson Jr.，Richardson竟然Jennings玩笑：希望你坐巴士冷死。Jennings也回敬：希望你。想到一成，次的空即是知名的「The Day the Music Died」。Jennings然逃一劫，他的句玩笑懊悔不已。
