先首美民《Man of Constant Sorrow》，影音中的器合即是所的「草」( 一般有曼陀林，而此以共振腔吉他取代。 )。曾翻唱此曲的大牌歌手也不少，有Bob Dylan、Joan Baez、Judy Collins以及Peter, Paul and Mary等，唯歌名各有所不同。

上面影音中拉小提琴的女生？她是美草 / 村歌手Alison Krauss。不Alison Krauss在上的其他成就，以她曾得27座葛美，即在所有事音的女性中 ( 女性第2名Beyonce / 20座 )；若再包含男性，是和Quincy Jones列排名第 2 ( 冠Georg Solti / 31座 )。

此首《When You Say Nothing at All》共有三知名的版本，首行者Keith Whitley，1988拿下了村榜的冠。憾的是，由於Whitley期酗酒，在次年 ( 1989 ) 5月因急性酒精中毒暴 ( 34 )，到首歌次的再度翻。

Alison Krauss在1995翻唱此曲，收在向Keith Whitley致敬的《Keith Whitley：A Tribute Album》中 ( 多位歌手分翻唱Keith Whitley的歌曲 )。Alison Krauss的版本在村榜第3名 ( 榜 #53 )，看似成只是「尚佳」，她得了一座「年度最佳曲」的葛美 ( 年共得了4座 )。1999，男歌手Ronan Keating了影《Notting Hill》( 台：新娘百分百 ) 唱此曲，稍後也行此曲作其唱事的首支曲，在英、、西均得排行榜冠，在英被「金唱片」。

台天后的歌手蔡依林也有翻唱版，可惜未能在上造成。
