首《California Sun》最早是由美R & B歌手Joe Jones於1961推出，但勉入排行榜，得第89名。之後由印地安州位高中生所成的The Rivieras，其翻唱版本於1964到了排行榜的第5名。首歌最出名的，不在於它是首曲，由於同一英披合唱的《 I Want To Hold Your Hand》首度攻上了排行榜的冠位置，了所「英入侵 ( British Invasion )」 的序幕，首歌也成了「英入侵」前，美本土的最後一首曲。


The Rivieras的名取自Buick的「Buick Riviera」，在可是髦的款。

此曲推出後不久，The Rivieras的主唱Marty Fortson即奉召入伍，其他亦因升力，於在1966宣告解散。改期也推出，但成均不理想，故The Rivieras也成了所的「一曲」。

首歌曾被多位歌手及翻唱，亦曾被引用在多部影中。依料，主唱Marty Fortson後任俱行的理，也已於2012世。於未能重返曾的音舞台，不知他的心是否留有憾？
