於英The Hollies，或有些人不熟悉，但若提到他的那首《He Ain't Heavy, He is My Brother》，可能就有印象了( 80 )。The Hollies成於1962年，由於格前以及三部合音的特色，而成60年代英的之一，但直至1966年才以一首《Bus Stop》打入美排行榜和市。

《Long Cool Woman In a Black Dress》是主唱Allan Clarke人共同合，首歌和The Hollies以往歌曲的三部合音格大不相同，除了主奏吉他，而且是由Allan Clarke自己唱。其首歌的奏和旋律基本上都是考C.C.R.( 清水合唱 ) 的《Green River》，甚至Clarke模仿John Fogerty的唱腔方式。

首歌於1972在美推出，Allan Clarke其已了The Hollies，料到此曲竟然至告示牌百大的第2名，在美和全球的唱片售量超了350。Allan Clarke在1973年的夏天又重回到了The Hollies，其中也有因是首歌成功的故。
