The Everly Brothers於1956出道，1957即以一首《Bye Bye Love》成名，之後亦有多首典好歌，如《All I Have to Do Is Dream》《 Let It Be Me》《Crying in the Rain》等，但兄弟於1973拆夥，各自求展。

1983，兄弟定合，次年在敦的Royal Albert音演唱。英歌手、吉他手兼作人Dave Edmunds跑去他排，之後和哥哥Don Everly及Albert Lee ( 英知名的吉他手，曾Emmylou Harris的Hot Band，及吉他之神Eric Clapton合作了年，此次任敦演唱的音，想之前和Dave Edmunds有些交情。) 一起在酒吧喝啤酒，，Don Everly邀Dave Edmunds任他出後首的作人。

Dave Edmunds欣然接受作，但尚充分的歌曲素材，只得向他的那英弟兄求助，包含有Jeff Lynne ( ELO / 光交 )、Mark Knopfler ( Dire Straits / 峻海 ) 以及前披合唱 ( The Beatles ) 的士手Paul McCartney。大家都很捧，其中McCartney完全以兄弟之歌路想，且只花了的就完成了此首《On the wings of a Nightingale》。

此曲成Everly兄弟1984的《EB 84》的第一首曲目，曲打告示牌流行榜的第50名，是兄弟自1973以成最好的歌曲。Paul McCartney也在音版中配合奏吉他。
