此曲美村歌手Ed Bruce人所合，於1977由其首行，曲得告示牌村榜第52名。次年，美村女歌手Tanya Tucker翻唱此曲，拿下了排行榜的第5名。

其，然人的版本在排行榜的成有差距，但未必代表Tanya的版本就一定是，其中也乎歌手的知名度、行的唱片公司及行等等因素，而最主要的是要看歌者人的喜好。

歌曲的容人有感的。始的是死後可能不去天堂，因不知那是否接牛仔？若否，那就他回到德州去吧！且德州又近在咫尺。不吸引他，在底特律不能唱他的歌 ( 底特律人口非裔多，不喜西部村歌曲。)，就算日他在拉斯busted flat ( 一文不名？)，他也不在乎，因知道自己是在家。有像是俗「金不如自己的狗」，也有「落根」的念想望。

Tanya有些版本歌中Merle Haggard改成了Willie Nelson，但我Ed Bruce唱的也不是Merle Haggard。

2021，Ed Bruce 自然死亡於田西州的Clarksville ( 克拉克斯 )，享81。未如歌曲中的望葬於德州，想是天堂已接他了。
