1970，Tommy James他的The Shondells分手後始，此首《Draggin' the Line》原是作另首曲《Church Street Soul Reviva》的B面，但行後情似乎不 ( 台的DJ反而常播放 )，故定重在隔年 ( 1971) 重新作A面行。此曲果然成了曲，在告示牌榜得了第4名。
「Drag」有拖曳、拉的意思，Draggin' the Line可意成「拖拉出一」，由此，多人此曲和吸食古柯有 ( 在影中常可到吸食者毒品粉末先排成一 )。但其他像是犁田、捕或是等工作，也都出Draggin' the Line的情，故也被意喻是「辛的工作」。Tommy James在接受，他和Bob King此曲是在他上州的，澄清「'Draggin' the Line' just meant working every day. Nothing really very mysterious about it.」。然歌者自己都了，但仍不禁令人疑，他只是吸毒的喻包得很好，而且有些暗自得意吧！事上，Tommy James有吸毒的前科。1970，他和The Shondells在舞台上表演，即因嗑量反，倒了下去，甚至曾被宣死亡，而最後是活了。了之後的修，也才和他的The Shondells分手。
2000，Tommy James和The Shondells又重新聚首，在的夜The Bitter End演唱他年的曲，然首《Draggin' the Line》算是Tommy James的「人歌曲」，但是之列表演的曲目。
