起美歌手James Taylor，一般大概都想起那首由Carole King所的《You've Got A Friend》，曲是Taylor在告示牌榜的第一首冠曲，也他和Carole King在1971各得了一座葛美。

此首《Bartender's Blues》James Taylor所，是Taylor企跨入村歌曲作曲域的首作，而且以有於一般村歌曲的主呈。此曲的是一位酒保，由於常要客人吐苦水或是陪笑而得不快，也感自己被工作陷住，需要「honky tonk angel」救他。有趣的是，一般人所知的honky tonk angel，只是在小酒工作或打混的女人，而在Taylor的想法中，成了如妻子或母般可以忙他的天使。然，一些都只是自於Taylor人於小酒的印象。

James Taylor於1977行此曲的曲 (《Handy Man》的B面 )，只得村榜第88名。隔年，George Jones也推出翻唱版，然也只得到第6名，是Jones年首度榜前10名的歌曲，Jones，此曲然具意。2008，George Jones接受甘迪中心 ( Kennedy Center Honors )，歌手Brad Paisley即是演唱此曲向其致敬。
