60年代中期，英始大入侵美，而包含The Beatles、The Kicks等多是演唱自己的歌，The Animals的作人Mickie Most也此向在著名的音大---「Brill Building」中的歌者求歌曲，此首《Don't Bring Me Down》即已名大噪的音才女Carole King和她的夫婿Gerry Goffin的作品。
而首歌，The Animals的作人已成了Tom Wilson，他予大的空，在曲上自由，故此首《Don't Bring Me Down》是以的想法完成。歌曲於1966推出後即成曲，在英排行榜得第6名，另在美告示牌也有第12名的佳。
其在首歌之前，The Animals的另一首有史的意流歌曲《Story of Bo Diddley》/ 1964，歌中也是由Goffin & King所的歌曲《Take Good Care of My Baby》有所嘲之意，再加上此曲The Animals曲後，完全偏了Goffin & King的曲。些措已Goffin & King感很不爽，但The Animals完全不自知。
主唱Eric Burdon後告音媒，他其之前不清楚是Goffin & King的歌，直到有一天在比佛利山某生的，Carole King走坐在他旁的位子，他不知她是，故仍自看著。此Carole King著他『You know, I hated what you did to my song.』，Eric Burdon一不知如何答，只好『well, sorry.』。接著Carole King站起走向看室回『but I got used to it.』。
此曲有多首歌名相同但容不同的同名曲，像Electric Light Orchestra在1979推出的《Don't Bring Me Down》，已在「--462」介了。
超Traveling Wilburys的成Tom Petty，和他的The Heartbreakers的翻唱版本也不，就一上了。
