首歌的容，的是於美切基族(Cherokee Nation) 印地安人，在1838年，被政府派制押送徙至位於千里之外克拉荷州的保留，路也被之「之路 ( Trail of Tears )」。路程的辛自是不在下，由出的一六千多人，抵剩下不到四分之三，估有四千人於路途中死於染病及生活件的乏。

印地安人被迫世代以生的家 ( 除Cherokee外，有其他四大族 )，奈地走上了悲的命之途，背後然是美白人婪他肥美的土地( 有些甚至有金 )，也是族欺、霸凌的一陋不堪的史事件。

首《Indian Reservation》John D. Loudermilk所作，由Marvin Rainwater於1959首行，但未引起注意。1968年，Don Fardon的翻唱版本首度榜，告示牌百大的第20名。1971年，美The Raiders ( 突者 ) 再度翻唱，成美排行榜的冠歌曲，售量超了600。

1983年，此曲被填上中文歌名《河路》( 於下 )，由歌手黎行於其首之中，以一黑色打扮上打歌，在受目，也可是一曲成名。後似有介入邰肇玫和大的婚姻，致人 ( 而是否有和大婚，不太定 )。小姐目前定居美，仍有事於歌曲的作工作。
