首《When I Need You》是Albert Hammond和女作家Carole Bayer 所共同，而且是根Hammond本身的感情所作。最早的版本是英歌手Leo Sayer ( 李 ) 於1976所，包含在其和歌曲同名的之中。推出後造成大，成行世界的流行曲。次年，分得英曲及美告示牌榜的冠，也是Leo Sayer成最好的歌曲。
但首歌之前有：因歌曲中的一段旋律，和另位加拿大歌手Leonard Cohen在1971推出的歌曲《Famous Blue Raincoat》中的一段乎完全相同。後有人代表Leonard Cohen提出了，而被告方找了音理家 ( musicologist )，像特的基，是於公共的。而且，若真要出，可追溯到古早之前的「舒伯特」。歌曲雷同的，似乎也就如此落幕了。
Leo Sayer的本名是Gerard Sayer。在他出道，人Adam Faith的太太得他看起像小子，就建他名字改Leo Sayer ( Leo是西洋星像中的子座 )。1980年，Leo Sayer翻唱Bobby Vee在1961的《More Than I Can Say》，也成大曲，得了排行榜的及金唱片。
Celine Dion ( 席琳狄翁 ) 和Rod Stewart ( 洛史都 ) 等也都有翻唱此首《When I Need You》，我得是各有千秋。而原汁原味或更人念一些吧！
