步1：此水器通NSF第？
多水器都榜通美家生基金（NSF），而NSF不只限於水理系，也包含多容器、管及其它目，所以若看到NSF章，必一步第，是否水器有，以免商目混珠。
步2：取得是符合？
多水器商宣符合NSF/ANSI第42或53的，但事上只是依NSF/ANSI的行，未真正取得美家生基金（NSF）所出的，消者可查看水器身是否有NSF的章（可考下）或上NSF站（www.nsf.org）查。
步3：是否全或件？
若件，此代表水器包含某些已的件，但的件不代表整用水器材是由安全的材成，也不能作整用水器材具有可除或降低污染物之品效能。
