Caroling（也拼作 carolling）指唱颂歌，尤其是在圣诞节期间，人们挨家挨户地唱圣诞歌曲的传统活动。也可泛指欢快地歌唱。

Caroling 源自中古英语 carole，最初指一种伴有歌唱的圆圈舞蹈，可追溯至古法语 carole（环形舞蹈）。更早的来源可能与拉丁语 choraula（合唱伴奏的笛手）有关，而该词又来自希腊语 χοραλη。最初 carol 并不专指圣诞歌曲，而是泛指欢乐的歌曲或舞蹈。到了中世纪后期，carol 逐渐与圣诞节庆祝活动联系在一起，caroling 也因此成为圣诞节挨家挨户唱歌这一传统习俗的专用词。
