美流行歌曲才女作家Carole King，某日在家奏一段旋律，其夫婿Gerry Goffin一旁在做事的褓姆Eva Boyd著音在舞，因此激Goffin出首於新舞蹈的《The Loco-Motion》。Eva Boyd才17，是由The Cookies ( 非裔三人女子合唱 ) 介到Carole King家中照小孩及做些清工作 ( 而King也才19，Goffin是22 )，由於之前知道Eva Boyd的歌喉不，就她去了此曲的demo。
此曲原意由的黑人女歌手Dee Dee Sharp唱，但被打了回票。後被Goffin & King合作的唱片作人Don Krishner到demo，Eva Boyd唱得也很OK，就定由她正式唱，替她取名Little Eva。
此曲於1962行後，登上了美排行榜的冠。下一年代，1974，美Grand Funk Railroad翻唱此曲，亦得排行榜的冠。成由不同人演唱，而都得冠的9首歌中的第2首 ( 第1首亦Goffin和King所的《Go Away Little Girl》)。再下一年代，1988，澳洲女歌手Kylie Minogue ( 莉米洛 ) 也翻唱得排行榜第3名。三世代均入榜前5名，也算是了。
Loco有「狂」之意，Motion的名「作、」，Loco-Motion「火舞」( or火舞？)，歌曲的容及唱片封套上的火片，的也符合歌者想新舞蹈引流行的原意。而也有人就直接「洛克舞」。歌的描述多「自己舞」，也合跳「排舞」，可惜那尚未明。YouTube上有人依歌曲所述，搭著肩或腰成像火的一列或列，著圈跳，很High，也有趣。
