Monetization Area:

As an iOS engineer in the Monetization Area, you will work on our premium subscriptionsSuper Duolingo and Duolingo Maxthe key revenue drivers behind our business. Your contributions will touch on packaging, pricing, and hooks for our subscriptions, and game mechanics such as Hearts and Gems. We're seeking engineers who are passionate about bottom-line business impact, and who bring fresh insights and a creative technical approach.

The Monetization Area focuses on Duolingo's key business driverssubscriptions, ads, and in-app purchases. Our area's goal is to build the best premium experiences for our learners while ensuring the sustainability and success of our business model. You will play an instrumental role in the strategic direction of Duolingo by developing and refining the methods that make our monetization efforts more effective and efficient.


*You will...

-Collaborate on software projects with product design and backend aspects
-Develop, release, and maintain native iOS applications, primarily in Swift
-Mentor and set technical direction for junior engineers across the company
-You will also support our ads roadmap, and develop new and innovative ad formats, including generated content using Duolingo’s design and cast of characters


*You have...

-A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
-A solid foundation in computer science with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design
-Programming experience in Swift


*Exceptional candidates will have...

-A minimum of 5 years of programming experience in Swift
-Strong technical knowledge of iOS mobile application development for iPhone/iPad using Swift with Cocoa Touch and related frameworks
-Experience designing clean and maintainable APIs
-Experience with multithreaded programming
-Experience writing unit tests and testable code
-Knowledge of iOS SDK performance tools and optimization techniques
