The Nuance Cloud Services DEV team is responsible for designing and developing real-time, multi-modal, personal agent applications for some of the world ’ s largest phone, automobile and other smart devices manufacturers.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer to join a world-class team building server-side functionality that is at core of all Nuance's virtual agent applications powered by a diverse array of state-of-the-art technologies such as voice recognition, natural language understanding, big data, cloud computing, and more. The selected candidate will be responsible of developing and maintaining server-side components and frameworks, and have an impact on the evolution of a platform that is used by millions of users every day.
Responsibilities:
We are looking for a strong and motivated software engineer. Your main responsibilities will be, however will not be limited to:
Design, implement and support new and existing features and services in the Nuance Cloud Services (NCS) platform following an Agile Scrum process
Collaborate with the QA engineers on test strategy definition
Collaborate with the Deployment team on deployment and monitoring strategy
Collaborate with the Doc team on official product documentation
Help troubleshoot production issues (third level of support only)
Number of Years of Experience: 3-5 years software industry experience
Required Skills:
Strong academic track record with relevant internship experience
Strong problem solving skills and a insatiable desire to learn new technologies
Basic to intermediate Java programming skills
Hands on experience in object oriented design & development
Knowledge of Unix/Linux OS and networking fundamentals
Some knowledge of databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Cassandra)
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Team player and a desire to help others
Preferred Skills:
Experience with mobile client/server software architecture and SOA (Service-oriented Architecture)

Summary: The selected candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and executing system functional tests for automotive features on the NCS core platform. Further, the candidate will trouble shoot issues and write detailed bugs reports and status reports so that progress in testing can be easily tracked.

Summary: Evaluate the usage patterns of Nuance customers via big data analysis; build models to improve core ASR accuracy of individual products; contribute to the model building codebase, including our deep learning toolkit; and stay current on state-of-the-art algorithms in related fields. Work on challenging research problems that have a concrete impact on real-world applications, such as in-car assistants and home entertainment systems.
Responsibilities:
Conducting experiments to assess the quality of language models and study the effect of language modeling variants and ancillary natural language processing technology (such as auto-punctuation) on speech recognition accuracy.
Identifying, optimizing, and clustering training data.
Analyzing product usage data to identify areas of possible improvement or enhancement of language modeling process, method, and NLP techniques.
Implementation of improved training recipes and NLP prototypes utilizing C/C++, Perl, and Python.
Discussing and presenting ideas, progress, and results within the research team
Improving language modeling performance in multipe languages, especially Chinese
Qualifications

MS or PhD, with 2+ years of professional development experience preferred
